To Stop Tax And Fee Increases!
In just the last year the city council has approved a 12.6% increase in property taxes and increased the water rate charged by 15%.
In addition, prior city leaders had pledged to make the home valuation
reassessment, taken at the peak of the real-estate bubble, revenue neutral, but in actuality it increased home valuations across Raleigh by an average of 41%.

To Reward Households For Water Conservation!
In 2008, Raleigh suffered a water shortage that we cannot let happen again. We need to
reward households for their conservation and not punish them with water rate increases for doing what was asked of them. We need to
develop reuse systems for industry so they are not
wasting millions of gallons of drinking water each day. We need to
explore all alternative water sources - accelerate the
little river reservoir and explore connecting to Jordan Lake - and we need to continually update the 25-year plan for water use in our city.
To Support Our Police and Fire Services!
Police and Fire services are a top priority and should always be
supported fully. The plan to close volunteer fire stations is
troubling. These brave volunteers are the first responders in many
Raleigh communities and should be funded by the county and city. Odom
will fight to keep these fire houses open – protecting our city.
To Synchronize Traffic Lights!
John Odom started the first plans to synchronize Raleigh’s traffic lights
back in 2000 to ease congestion during rush hours. Odom wants to
return to the city council to get the work he started back on track.
He is a hands-on leader who will work with city staff to move projects
forward and make sure they are completed and effective. Raleigh has
waited long enough; it’s time to get back to work.
To Build The Greenways We’ve Been Promised Since 2005!
Raleigh citizens approved and funded expansion of the Greenway system in 2005. The new trail that connects Falls River Dam to Perry Creek has been marred with delay after delay. We need hands-on leadership to get the greenways we have been promised.
John Odom -
“Back in ’94, when I first met Sig Hutchinson, we
implemented the top 10 greenway connections and we connected those
within two years, so I’m not only a guy who talks about doing those
things, I do them.”
